Foundations for Christian Living

Foundations for Christian Living (FCL) is our adult discipleship ministry. The focus is to ground adults in the foundation Biblical beliefs of Willow. The class involves both large group teaching and small group discussion. Look for upcoming classes on the website and weekly bulletin. Contact Pastor Scott for more information at scott@wdbc.net or 297-4079.

Alpha – Alpha is a series of session exploring the foundations of the faith, typically run over ten weeks. Each week looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe and everyone is welcome. Alphausa.org

Breakthrough – The focus is breaking out of the Satan’s lies and into our freedom in Christ. These lies are spiritual chains, which only Jesus can remove. When we recognize them as such and embrace God’s truth, then we are on the road to breakthrough. This study has been revolutionary in many lives. It is open to all.

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality – You cannot be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. EHS combines emotional health and contemplative spirituality which we believe unleashed the Holy Spirit inside of us so that we might experientially know the power of an authentic life in Jesus.

Emotionally Healthy Relationships Course – This study equips you with practical skills to love others wells as a mature follower of Jesus. It directly helps you identify fragmented self-awareness, self-management and social skills that are roadblocks to love God, yourself and others well. This course is for everyone. For more info about EHS and this study – emotionallyhealthy.org.

Healing Ministry – We believe it is God’s will that people be healed at every level of their lives. This study explores how to walk in healing and how to pray for others to be healed.

Inside Out

Is an exciting ministry that helps individuals and couples look inward to find hidden core issues that are causing and/or inflicting pain outwardly.  So much of people’s emphasis on behavior is to focus on the outward expression of behavior instead of what is on the inside driving the behavior.  We flip things INSIDE OUT and focus on what is deep inside and often times hidden unless purposefully searched for and exposed.  We believe in the saying, “The Problem Is Not the Problem”, and we will help you discover the true meaning of this in your own unique situation.

There are several ways to participate in Inside Out:  Conferences led by international ministries, women’s small group sessions, topical video/book series with small group discussions, and individual or couples mentoring sessions are available.

Small group meetings are led by individuals that have received some amount of interpersonal healing and victory in relational areas of life that they have struggled with for years but are still on the journey of finding new levels of freedom in their own lives.  Small group meetings for women will be available fall and spring and will run for 12 weeks during the week.  Contact April to sign up for these meetings.  Keith Jones is exploring the interest of having a men’s small group meeting on Sunday mornings. If you are interested in a men’s small group contact Keith.

For 2016, Trisha Frost is coming to Willow to conduct a “Heart of Sonship” School, October 12-15, Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00-5:00.  This Schools helps people get started on their journey of discovering who they are in God’s Kingdom. Details and registration information is on Willow webpage, and you can contact Keith Jones for more information.   We hope this becomes an annual event that brings people from all over the region to participate in this exciting opportunity.

Wednesday night Video/Book/Small Group sessions will also be offered.  The series on Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, Jack Frost’s Series on Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship, and others are in the rotation.  Typically sessions begin in September and January and run for 8-12 weeks.  In these meetings there is a 10-20 minute video, 15-20 minute teaching, and a 45 minute break out small group discussion.  There are resources available to help you stay up to speed if you miss a session.

Individual and Couples Mentoring is another facet of the Inside Out Ministry.  We have trained several people that can help you get through a bump in the road in a broad range of areas.  Don’t go through the crisis alone there is help for you out there.

If you would like to participate in any of these areas or have questions, you can contact any of the team leaders and they would be happy to talk to you.  Inside Out leaders are:  April Jones, Jayme Gilkison, Gemi Powell, Carmen McKinney, Jennifer Barber, Suzi Saulsman, Gene Saulsman, and Keith Jones.

Men’s Ministry

Today more than ever we need that leading with purpose, integrity, and love. None of which can be done without a personal relationship with Christ. We also believe many of us have slipped into a state of being passive followers rather than passionate leaders.

We believe it’s time for men to take personal responsibility for their growth.

  • Men’s project team: short term construction improvement projects in our community. We do projects 2 to 4 times per year. This ministry meets critical needs and provides a means to get to know others.
  • The Brazosport Mancamp is a one day program that brings together men form a number of churches in southern Brazoria County. Information and registration at the Information Desk in the Atrium
  • Men’s fellowship: Whether its breakfast, lunch, bowling, or some other manly event – we get together to felowship, share, and pray. Times and details will be found in the bulletin, so keep an eye out.
